More of a puzzle than a 'pinion...
I don't know if you've seen this sequence before but it was on the front of MT167. It has plagued me for a long time now and I have no idea how it was generated. Have a look...if you can't read it in the pic the sequence is posted after the jump.
The sequence goes as follows:

I have thrown a lot at it and got close to nowhere. Please drop me a comment if you have any clues!
